The Statue of Liberty

Nearly 130 years ago, France gifted the U.S. with one of the most prolific symbols of freedom the world over. Since then, it has welcomed millions of people searching for a new life on unfamiliar shores.
Today, the Statue of Liberty is more than just a symbol of solidarity. It’s a reminder that all countries thrive on the exchange of ideas and culture.

New York To Go is an interview-based project.

1
A person needs to refer to themselves as a New Yorker to qualify for an interview.

2
Each interview is conducted over the span of a coffee break.

3
Interviews will not be recorded, nor typed.

4
Instead of a written account of an interview, there will only be a drawing resembling the conversation.

5
Interviewees are found by reference of the previous person interviewed or simply by coincidence.

6
Each person is asked to sign their cup after the conversation.

7
The aesthetics of the drawings are informed by the architecture of the city.

8
A person can only be interviewed once
